Anthony Davis Proving Lakers Can't Be Counted Out
The Lakers' star big man is bringing the team back from the brink
What Anthony Davis is doing is nothing short of incredible. In the last 9 games, the Lakers’ superstar bigman is averaging 35 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 blocks while shooting 65% from field, 46% from 3, and 88% from the free throw line with over 10 attempts per game. Most recently, he dropped a whopping 55 points and 17 rebounds on a Wizards team that quickly realized they had no chance of stopping him.
During that stretch the Lakers, who stumbled out of the gates, are 7-2 and looking like a very different team than the one we saw even a month ago.
For the past few seasons, Lakers fans have hoped that the version of Davis that helped LA win a championship in 2020 would re-appear. It seemed to be a foolish dream; the prayer of the desperate who needed Davis to return to a time that seemed so far away.
Some embers of hope still flickered as we entered the 2022-2023 season, but even the most optimistic fan wouldn’t have dared consider that Davis could actually be better than he was in 2020, yet here we are.
